Malted Milk Macadamia Nut Smoothie


It doesn’t get much more delicious than this.  Just check out the froth on top!

And yes, it’s dairy and sugar free.


I’ve been out of town all weekend at a three day test to become a Polestar Pilates teacher. This test was the culmination of a year and a half of study, and although I’m glad that the test is over, I am more in love with Pilates than ever.  We got worked this weekend!  And inspired, too.

All the while I was daydreaming of a chocolate-y treat to keep me going, and so today for lunch this smoothie was born.  Wowzers.  It is goooood.

It took me about 10 minutes to make homemade cashew nut milk (go here to learn how to make nut milks) and then blend up this malty creation.  The combination of cashew milk and sea salt give it a deep, rich taste, AND you can sneak in more good stuff (like B vitamins, minerals, or even probiotics and no one will ever know) 🙂

Malted Milk Macadamia Nut Smoothie

Prep Time: 5 minutes (15 minutes with nut milk)
Serves: 2


4 cups homemade cashew milk
4-6 dates
2 tblspoons macadamia nut butter (I used Wilderness Poets raw macadamia nut butter)
1 tspoon vanilla extract
1 tspoon lucuma powder
1 tblspoon organic, cocoa powder (NOT raw cocoa)
1 tblspoon Coco Hydro, coconut water electrolytes
2 raw, organic pastured eggs
big pinch real salt
pinch cinnamon
sneaky vitamins or minerals (I added liquid B vitamins and liquid multi minerals….this is a great step for kiddos or forgetful adults, and in chocolate smoothies there is no taste difference.  You can also add grass-fed liver powder to chocolate smoothies to hide liver from friends and family – mwahahahaha!!  Liver powder adds myriads of extra nutrients, hard to get amino acids and it actually gives this smoothie a deeper, more malty flavor.)


Blend ingredients together well and serve it up!  YUM!
