Butter Does a Body Better


You can find me gardening in my backyard, teaching Pilates classes, or speaking at fun events about the biochemical wonders of butter and other traditional foods.  

But why did I become interested in good food anyway?

To make a long story short, I was born sick.  I have a beautiful, loving family who did their very best to raise me as a healthy kid.  But, pop culture nutrition and medicine simply do not have the right ingredients to grow a vibrant little one.  Once I was old enough to realize I could take action to feel better, I began experimenting with different diets and lifestyles.

And, that experimentation led me on a windy road to Hawai’i.  Through serendipity I landed at one of the most nutritionally educated and incredibly diverse communities on Earth – Pangaia on the Big Island.  My nutrition education began in 2003 while living in the jungle of Big I, and I haven’t stopped learning since.  For over 10 years I’ve read, studied, and guinea-pigged on myself to learn what foods and therapies are the most effective.

And now I’m helping teach others who are interested in lifelong health through real food.  I am currently an Assistant Instructor for the Nutritional Therapy Association.  But, I’m still not done learning!  I am also studying to gain my Master’s of Science in Human Nutrition and Functional Medicine.  I hope my health journey never ends.  :)

Official Bio

I am a certified Nutritional Therapy Practitioner and certified GAPS Practitionerthrough the Nutritional Therapy Association, located in Olympia, Washington.  For over a decade I have explored varied diets and healing modalities, ranging from raw veganism to the Primal Diet.  My interest in diet stemmed from a strong desire to heal life long health problems without continued reliance on prescription drugs.

In 2006 I graduated magne cum laude from Murray State University with a bachelor of arts degree, emphasis in medical anthropology and professional writing.  My time studying varied culture’s practices sparked my interest in continuing to investigate the link between chronic illness/ degenerative disease and dietary habits.

The teachings of the Weston A. Price Foundation, the Nutritional Therapy Association, and Dr. Natasha Campbell-McBride, paired with my background in medical anthropology have led me to believe that a properly prepared, whole food, nutrient dense diet is one of the primary keys to optimal health.
